It has become increasingly popular amongst the general public and lawyers mostly due to the greater caseload of our courts, the fact that ADR proceedings remain confidential and their flexible nature.

This area of law concerns the framework within which business is conducted. It includes laws relating to companies and securities, contracts, liquidation, financial services regulation, banking and finance.

Constitutional/Administrative Law

Constitutional or administrative law is arguably the most important in existence as, without it, there could be no other laws and the state would not be able to function. This is the law that holds our country together.

This area of law makes sure that that power is not abused and that it is used in an appropriate manner. Someone has to keep a check on the government and that is where this area of law steps up to the plate.

Contract Law

Contract law encompasses any laws or regulations aimed at enforcing certain promises.

A contract is an agreement between two or more parties to either perform a service, provide a particular product or to commit an act, and is enforceable by law. There are several types of contracts, and each have specific terms and conditions.

In order for a contract to be enforceable, it must contain:

  • an offer, specifically detailing exactly what will be provided;
  • acceptance, which is the agreement by the other party to the offer presented;
  • consideration, money or something of interest being exchanged between the parties;
  • capacity of the parties in terms of age and mental ability;
  • the intent of both parties to carry out their promise;
  • and legally enforceable terms and conditions, also called object of the contract.

Deceased Estates

If you’ve recently lost a family member or friend, we understand that this can be an emotional time. That’s why we want to make it as easy as possible for you to go through the process of finalising their accounts.

We assist our clients by either accepting instructions from executors on the winding up of deceased estates or being appointed as executors ourselves and attending to such process.

Employment/Labour Law

Employment/labour law governs the rights and duties between employers and workers. Our legislation is primarily designed to keep workers safe and to make sure that they are treated fairly, although laws are in place to protect employers’ interests as well. A particular employment relationship may also be governed by contract.

Equity & Trusts

Equity essentially means fairness. Our legal system is based on these rules and this area of law gave birth to the law of trusts.

Trust law is a set of rules that have been established to regulate situations where one person places trust in another person to look after their affairs. This includes the way that charities are run or the way that money left to somebody in a will is governed.
